During my internship with I.M.P. I was tasked with writing E-Mail blasts to be sent out to the company's newsletter subscribers. These blasts ranged from 1-2 sentences to a paragraph or so encouraging subscribers to go to a show.
Charly Bliss
It is all giggles with pop group Charly Bliss as they prepare for their third LP FOREVER, out this Friday. The Brooklyn band is hitting D.C. on September 5 as part of their Forever and Ever Tour. The quartet, composed of siblings Eva and Sam Hendricks, Dan Shure, and Spencer Fox, surf over waves of creative droughts by focusing on what really matters, having fun with each other. It helps that their new album, produced by Jake Luppen of Hippo Campus, Caleb Wright (Samia, Hippo Campus) and the band’s Sam Hendricks, is packed full of modern bubblegum grunge and power pop sounds. We’re Waiting For You to grab a ticket and see the group rock out on the 9:30 Club stage as they cram a lifetime of feelings into a sonic and angsty performance.
The The
Since 1979, Matt Johnson has been inventing his own sound within the London post punk scene as the only soul member of The The. Now, the band is parking at the Anthem for their Ensouled World Tour on October 14 following the release of their newest release, Ensoulment.
Black Eyed Peas
There are so many song based puns I could make right now, but “Imma Be” chill when talking about The Black Eyed Peas at The Anthem next Wednesday. Join us on August 7 ‘cause “I gotta feeling” it’ll be “The Time” of your life (Dirty Bit).
Yuval Noah Harari
Proven through his best sellers Sapiens and Homo Deus, Yuval Noah Harari is able to present his extensive knowledge of human history in a format fit for any curious Homo Sapien. Now focusing on ways in which information has been wielded throughout history, Harari presents a new question about the relationship between information and the truth. In conversation with Nicholas Thompson, Harari heads to the Lincoln Theater to discuss his upcoming release NEXUS: A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI. Join us on September 16 alongside one of our favorite collaborators, Politics and Prose, and receive the anticipated release with your purchase of a ticket!
Alanis Morissette
Put one hand in your pocket and use the other to grab a ticket to post-grunge goddess Alanis Morissette (who’s 1995 Jagged Little Pill was listed on Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums) at Merriweather Post Pavilion on June 30. “You Oughta Know” that it’ll be a great show!
Pedro The Lion
After a 15-year hiatus, Pedro the Lion has spent the past five years reminiscing on lead singer David Bazan’s adolescence. Known for their melodic guitar rock and introspective thematic albums, the group's reflective tone has dubbed them a cornerstone for late 90’s indie rock. Bazan’s many solo projects kept fans occupied during the hiatus, but now three albums deep into this dive of quaint synths and somber feelings that could only come from an often uprooted youth, the experimental yet quiet sound of this Seattle-based group creates an intimate live experience. “Spend Time” at The Atlantis as they bring their newly released and deeply nostalgic “Santa Cruz” to the already intimate stage on July 3.
X-Ambassadors
Since last playing at the Lincoln Theater in 2021, X-Ambassadors have released their fourth studio album packed with nostalgic lyrics and classically smooth guitar lines. Now at the 9:30 Club, the trio brings Toronto-based New West and singer-songwriter Rowan Drake to the stage on June 4th. While we’re excited to hear their old hits, we’re equally pumped to listen to the three “townies” reminisce on their hometown through their intimate tour.
